Four presentations from the Geolearning chair at METMA XII
Lucia Clarotto, Alexandre Loret, Mike Pereira and Thomas Romary presented their work at the 12th international workshop on spatio-temporal modeling.
The 57th Statistical Days of the French Statistical Society (SFDS) took place at the University of Clermont-Ferrand, France, from June 1st to 5th, 2026, bringing together statisticians from across France. This year's program included engaging plenary lectures, notably debates on the future of mathematics in the age of AI and the statistical evaluation of climate agreements, as well as specialized sessions on point processes, modeling of extreme events, spatial statistics, and diffusion models. The Geolearning Chair was strongly represented at this event, with five of its researchers presenting their work: Nicolas Lafon on modeling extreme river flows in eastern Quebec, Tiziano Fassina on short-time horizon diffusion sampling, Mike Pereira on Bayesian prediction for non-stationary spatial data, Charlie Sire on quantifying the uncertainty of predictors by splines on compact Riemannian varieties, and finally Gabriel V. Cardoso on stability and forgetting in score-based generative models.
